Feb. 27: According to the police, the prime accused in the LIC exam paper leak case, Yogeshwar Kumar Rao, a schoolteacher, had managed to get the question papers from the press where it was printed. He then passed it on to agents who in turn, approached candidates appearing for the exams.
For the post of AAO in LIC, the gang collected Rs 7 lakh from each candidate and provided the question paper one day before the exam. After appearing for the exam, candidates had to pay Rs 1 lakh and Rs 6 lakh after the final selection. The police said Yogeshwar got the question papers on February 23 from his friend Lal Bahadur, a resident of Lucknow. Bahadur got the same from his relative Dindayal, a native of Noida, who was working in the printing press. After getting the paper, Yogeshwar contacted his agent Palvai Ashok Kumar in Hyderabad. The two met in the city on February 25 along with Ashok’s agent Anna Rao.
Ashok and Yogeshwar then went to Vijayawada on February 26 and with the help of other racketeers, they got in touch with some candidates. Yogeshwar also gave the exam papers to some of his other agents in Vijayawada.
