The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards 2013

  • The Golden Globe Award is an honor which is awarded for film and television. The members of Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) bestow for excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. It ranks as the third most-watched awards show behind only the Oscars and the Grammy Awards. The awards are presented each year with the Academy Awards. The 1st Golden Globe Awards were held in January 1944 at the 20th Century Fox studios in Los Angeles. The HFPA donates to entertainment-related charities, as well as funding scholarships and other programs for future film and television professionals. It is awarded at the same place and on same date (14 Jan.) every year where they have been held annually since 1961.


    On January 14, 2013, the 70th Golden Globe Awards were presented, honoring the best in film and television for 2012, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California (USA).

    ** In 1950, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association made the decision to establish a special honorary award to recognize outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry. Because, the first award was presented to Cecil B. De Mille(Director and Producer) the official name of the award thus became the Cecil B. De Mille Award.
